If you’ve been reading this blog for any amount of time, you probably know that I love Scott Pilgrim, a comic about a 23 year old who’s life is like a video game. When I first heard that there would be a movie adaptation, I couldn’t believe it. Then I heard that Edgar Wright would be directing, I damn near ran around the room I was so excited. Who better to handle a comedic, actionpacked, coming-of-age story?
Now there’s the news that Michael Cera will be playing Scott Pilgrim. I see this as a mixed blessing. I’m glad they’re getting some wel known talent behind this movie, which means it will probably bring a lot of exposure to the film and therefore the comic, but I don’t know if Michael Cera is right for the role. In everything I’ve seen him in, Michael Cera has been really laid back and not really clued in to what’s going on around him (don’t get me wrong, I think he’s a very funny and talented kid), whereas Scott Pilgrim is much more energentic and outgoing. I guess only time will tell.
