It’s rare that I get excited about a record label because it seems like they aren’t what they used to be. The record label as a standard of quality has largely become meaningless. A record label’s name on an album doesn’t guarantee a good product anymore. Fortunately, there are people out there that remember that putting there company’s name on an album should be a stamp of approval – “We put our name on this because we listened to it and it’s GOOD”. Stones Throw is a record label made up of those people. Home to great artists like Madlib, Peanut Butter Wold, J Dilla(R.I.P.), and Percee P, it’s hard to not believe these guys know what they’re doing.

Stones Throw 102 : In Living The True Gods is the second DVD from the record label. It compiles music videos from pretty much the whole Stones Throw family, some behind the scenes stuff, and an interview with J Dilla. If you haven’t heard of Stones Throw before, pick up this DVD and I guarantee you’ll believe that record labels aren’t dead. If you have heard of Stones Throw, what are you waiting for?
