I’ve been wanting to go to SXSW, the film & music festival in Austin, for years. I can’t make it again this year, I’ll explain shortly, and this year I actually had two really good reasons to go.

As you all know, I work with charity/art organization RobotsandMonsters.org. Its founder, Joe Alterio, is taking part in a panel on March 15. Titled Indirect Collaboration: Collective Creativity on the Web, the panel will discuss how the internet and crowd-sourcing affect the creative process. more info

Test Everything, the zine that I did these drawings for, is cohosting a whirlwind of zine making. Winners! Press, Domy Books, and Test Everything are going to try to create 20 zines in 2 days, and they need your help! All of the content is going to be created at the event, so drop Domy books by March 19th & 20th if you’re in the area.

The reason I won’t be going to SXSW is because I’ll be gone all next week on my HONEYMOON! We’re headed to beautiful Barcelona. My wife wrote a little bit about it on her blog. I might post a couple pictures while I’m there, but if not, I’ll see ya’ll back here in a week.

Alphabattle 2.0 is a fun project that challenges you to create a custom letters. Starting at A and ending at Z, alphabattle will go for a year, changing to a new letter every two weeks. To participate, simply submit your letter to the alphabattle 2.0 pool on flickr.

Ryan Clark, cofounder of Invisible Creature and lead vocalist for Demon Hunter, posted a nice little write up about the creation of the latest Demon Hunter album art on the Demon Hunter blog. With a perfect blend of design and illustration, Invisible Creature is easily one of my favorite studios right now. Any insight I get into their process is really inspiring.

Big Team Scribble is a coloring zine made up customized carriages — a doodle train, if you will. In the end, the zine will be printed and sold with all profits going to UNICEF.
