Birthday Presents

It was my birthday on Friday and among lots of birthday wishes, I got some sweet gifts.

Ad Placement Gone Wrong

I’m sure the designer of the ad had all of the best intentions, but the person who put up the ad didn’t find it funny or they just didn’t care.

25 in 2 Weeks

I’ll be 25 in just 2 weeks making me a quarter century old ( Gah! I feel like there’s so much more I wanted to accomplish before 25.) Anyway, I decided to make a shirt to celebrate. Here’s the work in progress.

Found Type

I was watching Dr. Horrible’s Sing Along Blog and saw this really sweet piece of type in the background.

Unfortunate/Fortunate Discovery

To go along with A Rainbow Tale that I posted a little while back, I was developing a rainbow font. Here’s where I’m at so far

Obviously there are still some letters that aren’t quite solved. I did a quick internet search before I started and couldn’t anyone who had done something like it. Well, I was reading Grain Edit last night which led me to the site of designer Nick Dart. Lo and Behold, I found London based Nick Dart had created a rainbow font!

I concede that Nick’s font is tighter and he solved a lot of things I was still trying to work out. And it just feels more rainbow.
The fortunate part of this discovery is that Nick Dart is a really talented dude with some awesome logo types and print work. Check him out!

Peripetics by Zeitguised

Zeitguised made a piece in six acts for the opening exhibition at the Zirkel Gallery. It entails six imaginations of disoriented systems that take a catastrophic turn, including the evolution of educational plant-body-machine models and liquid building materials.

I don’t exactly “get it” but it’s hypnotically beautiful nonetheless. Peripetics by Zeitguised

The plush of the Toronto Olympic Games mascot Quatchi is so cute!

A Rainbow Tale

I posted a new animation to Vimeo. It’s a short story about what happens when a rainbow meets a cat. Enjoy!

Zorro Layer Tagger

I’ve been working heavily in After Effects for a few months and have found it’s lack of Photoshop-like grouping very frustrating. Thankfully, Lloyd Alvarez of aescripts.com stepped up to the challenge with a very awesome and versatile script that allows you to search and display layers based on a really clever tagging system. Here’s the video explaining how it works. I really recommend watching the whole thing to find out how robust this tagging script really is. Loyd was also kind enough to create a video explaining how to install a script if you’ve never done it before.

BORN Reel

LA based collective BORN has a really nice new reel.
